Slick solar radio brightens grey Tuesday
So, the prospect of ferociously winding a radio to listen to the news doesn't grab you. Might I suggest this pocket-sized, solar-powererd FM radio for your listening pleasure? Looking more like an MP3 player than a dowdy tuner, it's about a centrimetre thick and tops up using a solar panel on the front.
Battery life's quoted at around 4-5 hours on a full charge, though there's no mention of how long you need to leave it on your window sill/picnic blanket/car dashboard to juice it full: I've emailed the makers to find out. There's also a light built-in, which, frankly, I don't get. Does anyone else know why radio manufacturers keep squeezing in torches? Is it so ten year olds can read under the covers while rocking out to the Evening Session on Radio 1? Surely they all have MP3 players?
You can get your Solar AM/FM Radio with LED torch - that's the catchy, official name -
from the excellent Natural Collection for £15.
