Ethical fashion in the spotlight at London Fashion Week

Ethical designers had their moment in the sun the last few days, thanks to London Fashion Week. It featured the first major show independent of the main event - by Wildlife Works - plus a packed Esthetica section and Katherine Hamnett weighing in on the merits of organic cotton. I made it along to Wildlife's gig on Tuesday and the general reaction was good, with folk from the Ecologist, Natural Collection and elsewhere commenting on the fact that you could actually imagine yourself wearing the clothes on show. Unfortunately, I failed to visit Junky Styling's show tonight, and couldn't make it down to Terra Plana's collection. Still, it's good to see the ethical clothiers' combined efforts gave the Associated Press cause to roll out the old 'green is the new black' headline again.
